Stump Grinding done right, by neighbors who live here

After a tree comes out, the stump is what is left blocking your mower and your replanting. We grind stumps 6 to 12 inches below grade with a self-propelled grinder, then rake the chips back into the hole or haul them off. The result is a clean spot you can re-sod, plant, or pave over.

A lot of the stumps we grind in Mercer County are old maples and ashes that came out years ago and were never finished. Once the stump is gone the lawn finally mows flat and looks like one continuous yard again. We can fit through gates as narrow as 36 inches, which matters on the older lots in Trenton and parts of Hamilton.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take?+

Most residential stumps take 20 to 45 minutes once the grinder is on site. Larger oak and maple stumps can take a couple hours.

Will the roots keep growing?+

Once the stump is ground and the cambium is gone, no. The roots in the ground decompose over a few years.

Can I plant a new tree in the same spot?+

Yes, but the chips need to be removed and replaced with clean topsoil first. We can handle that as part of the job.

Do you grind stumps you did not remove?+

Yes. We grind plenty of stumps left behind by other companies or storms.
